Allectus, Romano-British Empire (AD 293-296/7). AE antoninianus (19mm, 3.02 gm, 12h). NGC AU 4/5 - 4/5. London. IMP C ALLECTVS P F AVG, radiate, cuirassed bust of Allectus right, seen from the front / VIRTVS AVG, galley with mast under oar left; QL in exergue. RIC V.II 55.
From the Rockport Collection. Privately purchased from Heritage Auctions in the 1980s. Sold with original custom holder listing older catalog references.
Although RIC denotes the Q issue coins as quinarii and have been traditionally cataloged as such, the current scholarship leans toward these being antoniniani and the Q may represent the quinquennials planned for AD 298.
