† AFRICA. East AFRICA. East African Protectorate, Victoria, Bronze Proof Pice, 1897 (KM 1). Uncirculated, toned a deep mahogany colour and struck with full Proof characteristics.
It is surprising these coins exist as Proofs, let alone as beautiful ones. No other British Colonial country at that time had Proofs struck by the Royal Mint, so to make this happen it must have taken a great deal of extra preparation.
