† AFRICA. East AFRICA. East African Protectorate, Victoria, Silver Proof Pice, 1898, off-metal strike in silver (KM Pn2). Choice uncirculated Proof, lightly toned.
Appears to be an earlier strike than the coin in the previous lot and struck from different dies. The pamphlets that the Bombay Mint put out make no mention that these were available as restrikes, but as they fit into the time period and have the look of earlier restrikes, it makes sense that these were struck in very limited quantities for special clients of the Bombay mint.
Part of the Arielle Collection Of British Colonial Coins.
Estimate: £1000-1500
