Not all coins that came out of the Heaton Mint Archives were specimen strikes, many were "merely" Gem Uncirculated, such as this piece. The Mint's practice of keeping examples of their coins in specimen and very often in uncirculated grades, served the collecting world very well when these came out for sale.
