CALABRIA. Tarentum. Circa 240-228 BC. Didrachm or Nomos (Silver, 20 mm, 6.47 g, 10 h), Philokles, magistrate. Nude youth riding horse walking to right, raising his right hand to crown the horse's head; to upper left, monogram; to right, monogram of ΛE; below, ΦΙΛO/KΛΗΣ above dolphin. Rev. T-APAΣ Youthful oikist, nude, riding dolphin to left, holding horse rhyton in his right hand and trident in his left; to right, two loutrophoroi. HN Italy 1057. Vlasto 951. Lustrous and attractive. Struck from a somewhat worn reverse die on a slightly irregular flan, otherwise, good extremely fine.
