SELEUKID KINGS OF SYRIA. Seleukos I Nikator, 312-281 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26 mm, 16.84 g, 5 h), a contemporary imitation, uncertain mint in the East, after 296/5. Laureate head of Zeus to right. Rev. BAΣIΛEΩΣ / ΣEΛEΥK[OΥ] Athena, brandishing spear overhead in her right hand and holding shield in her left, standing right in quadriga of elephants moving to right; above to right, anchor right. Cf. SC 156-7 (for prototype). A very interesting contemporary imitation of slightly barbarous style. Some scrapes and with light pitting on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.
