LUCANIA. Metapontion. Circa 330-290 BC. Didrachm or Nomos (Silver, 21 mm, 7.92 g, 9 h). Head of Demeter to left, wearing wreath of grain ears, triple pendant earring and pearl necklace. Rev. META Ear of barley with leaf to left; to left above leaf, Artemis hurrying right, holding long torch; below leaf, ΛY. HN Italy 1590. Johnston Class C, 7.6. Struck from somewhat worn dies and with some horn silver, otherwise, good very fine.
