INDIA, Kushan Empire. Mahi, usurper, 4th century. Dinar (Gold, 22 mm, 7.84 g, 12 h), uncertain mint. Mahi standing front, nimbate and head to left, armed with sword and sacrificing with his right hand over lighted altar and holding standard in his left; to upper left, filleted trident; to lower left, 'Pu' in Brahmi; to lower right, 'Mahi' (in Brahmi) and illegible legend in Brahmi. Rev. APΔOXþO (in Bactrian) Ardoxsho enthroned facing, holding diadem with two ribbons in her right hand and cornucopiae in her left; in field to upper left, tamgha. ANS Kushan 1666. Fresh and attractive. Struck from slightly worn dies, otherwise, extremely fine.
