IONIA. Ephesus. Trajan Decius, 249-251. Assarion (Bronze, 21 mm, 4.00 g, 7 h). ΑΥΤ Κ ΤΡΑΙΑΝΟϹ ΔЄΚΙΟϹ Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Trajan Decius to right, seen from behind. Rev. ЄΦЄϹΙΩΝ Two nude children playing with astragali; behind them in the back, facing cult statue of Artemis Ephesia; to upper left and right, star and crescent. Karwiese 980. RPC IX 629. An attractive example of this rare and lovely issue. Minor flan fault on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.
