ΔΗΜΟС ΑΛΙΗΝΩN Demos standing front, head to left, holding grain ears in his right hand and transverse scepter with his left. Martin, Alioi 1. RPC III 2615. Very rare and of great interest. Minor roughness and with some deposits on the reverse, otherwise, nearly very fine.


ΑΙΤΗCAMENOY translates as 'who called for the vote', indicating that the archon Gaios Asinios Frugi had requested permission from the city council to finance a coin emission as a form of euergetism to his polis.
