Julius Caesar, 49-44 BC. Denarius (Silver, 18 mm, 2.36 g, 9 h), a contemporary imitation, irregular mint, after 46. SALVTIS Head of Salus to right, wearing laurel wreath, pendant earring and pearl necklace. Rev. CAESAR Trophy of Gallic arms; at base to left, draped female captive seated to left, in mourning attitude; at base to right, bearded Gaulish captive kneeling right, his head turned back toward trophy. Cf. Babelon (Acilia) 8. Crawford 442/1a. CRI 16. RBW 1556. Sydenham 922 (for obverse) and Babelon (Julia) 11. Crawford 468/1. RBW 1639. Sydenham 1014 (for reverse). This interesting hybrid issue combines an obverse of Man. Acilius Glabrio with a reverse of Julius Caesar in error.
