KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III 'the Great', 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 33 mm, 16.74 g, 11 h), Mesambria, circa 150-120. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. BAΣIΛEΩΣ - AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, crested helmet to right above ΔA; below throne, monogram. HGC 3, 1568. Price 1062. Minor scratch on the reverse, otherwise, good very fine.
