Anonymous Folles, time of Basil II & Constantine VIII, circa 976-1025. Follis (Bronze, 21 mm, 4.10 g, 6 h), a halved class C follis, Constantinopolis. Nimbate figure of Christ standing facing; in upper field to left, countermark of 'lillah' ('for God') in Kufic and upside down. Rev. [IC / XC] / NI / K[A] in the angles of a large jewelled cross. DOC, Class C. Cf. Mardin Hoard no.17 (for countermark). SB 1825. Heavily clipped and with some deposits, otherwise, good fine.
