BITHYNIA. Herakleia Pontika, circa 4th-3rd centuries BC. Weight of 1 Mina (Lead, 20x54x60 mm, 578.00 g, 6 h), Apollodoros, magistrate. MNA Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. HPAKΛE/ΩTAN Club and bow in bowcase. Pondera -, cf. 1593, 12524, 12607, 12608 and 13034 (differing magistrates). Apparently unpublished. Some minor flan faults and with two large cuts on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.

This impressive early Hellenistic weight is stamped twice on the edge with AΠΟΛΛOΔΩPOY within a rectangular incuse. This is very likely the name of the magistrate overseeing the production and guaranteeing the weight standard of the weight.
