Manuel, anthypatos patrikios, imperial protospatharios and logothetes of the Dromos. Seal (Lead, 22 mm, 8.76 g, 12 h), late 9th-1st half of 10th century. KЄ ROHΘH TⲰ CⲰ ΔOVΛⲰ Patriarchal cross on steps, within pearled circle. Rev. +MANOV/HΛ ANΘVΠ, Π/ATP, R'A'CΠA/Θ, S ΛOΓOΘ, / T, ΔPOM, in five lines, crosses flanked by decorations above and below. Unpublished in the standard references. Corroded, otherwise, very fine.


The department of the dromos was mainly responsible for the road system and the postal service. As logothetes, our seal's owner was at the head of this department.
