Rev. +MAPIA/[N,] ANΘVΠ' Π/[ATP]IK S CT[...]ANN૪/... in five lines, decorations of pearls above and below. Unpublished in the standard references. Some breakage and a scrape on the reverse, otherwise, good very fine.
The name of Marianos' command as strategos is only partly preserved. He may have been commander of the Bulgarian capital of Preslav, which was temporarily named Ioannopolis in honor of the emperor, John Tzimiskes.
