ISLAMIC, Time of the Rashidun. Pseudo-Byzantine types. Fals (Bronze, 13x18 mm, 2.00 g, 12 h), imitating a follis of Constans II, uncertain mint, circa AH 24/5-27/8 = AD 645-647. Bearded head of Constans II facing. Rev. Large M between X and a blundered letter; below; X (?). Goodwin&Gyselen, -. H. Pottier, I. Schulze and W. Schulze: Pseudo-Byzantine Coinage, in: RBN 154 (2008), -. Cf. N. Schindel: A new Arab-Byzantine coin type, in: ONS Newsletter 182 (2005), p. 10, 6 (for similar type with a cursive 'm'). SICA I -, cf. type H (for Constans II imitations). Apparently unique. A very crude and interesting imitation of a Constans II follis. Some deposits, otherwise, about very fine.

From a European collection, formed before 2005.
