ISLAMIC, Umayyad Caliphate. temp. 'Abd al-Malik ibn Marwan, AH 65-86 / AD 685-705. Pashiz (Bronze, 24 mm, 1.07 g, 10 h), anonymous Arab-Sasanian type, Kavad-Khurra, circa AH 70s-90s = ca. AD 690s-710s. Draped bust resembling Khosrau II to right, wearing elaborate mural crown; behind head, AFZUT GDH ('may his kingship increase' in Pahlawi); before head, HWSRWD ('Khosrau' in Pahlawi). Rev. ABAD (or AZAD) KAVAD-KHURRA ('May Kavad-Khurra be prosperous [or free]' in Pahlawi) Male figure standing right, in military attire, wearing elaborate headdress and holding spear pointed at both ends in his left hand.
