KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III 'the Great', 336-323 BC. Drachm (Silver, 16 mm, 4.41 g, 12 h), Abydos, struck under Antigonos I Monophthalmos, circa 310-301. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. [AΛ]EΞANΔP[OY] Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, monogram of ME; below throne, ivy-leaf. Price 1560. A splendid piece, lustrous and very sharp. Light die wear on the obverse, otherwise, virtually as struck.
