ISLAMIC, Mongols. Ilkhanids. Uncertain, 1256-1335. Fals (Copper, 18 mm, 1.16 g), uncertain mint. Large sun-face. Rev. Cross within the star of David; around, differing symbols. Apparently unpublished and of great interest. Some deposits and with cleaning scratches, otherwise, about very fine.
This fascinating coin is an unresolved mystery. While the obverse shows a typical Mongol sun-face, the reverse features the Jewish Star of David and a Christian cross.
