KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III 'the Great', 336-323 BC. Drachm (Silver, 15.5 mm, 4.23 g, 12 h), Sardes, struck under Menander, circa 323/2. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. AΛEΞAN[ΔPOY] Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, monogram of EY; below throne, torch. Price 2600. Struck on a slightly short flan and with light doubling on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.
