KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III 'the Great', 336-323 BC. Obol (Silver, 9 mm, 0.51 g, 9 h), Susa, struck under Seleukos I, circa 311-305. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. AΛEΞAN Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, wreath above horned head of a horse left; below throne, TI. Price 3870. SC 171. Very rare and attractive. Slightly porous, otherwise, about extremely fine.
