AUSTRALIA. George V, 1910-36.
Gold sovereign, 1930 M. Melbourne.
One of the lowest mintage sovereigns from Melbourne mint, very rarely seen.
Bare head left, BM on truncation; GEORGIVS V D. G. BRITT: OMN: REX F. D. IND: IMP:. / St George on horseback slaying the dragon right, no WWP under lance; mintmark M in groundline; date and B.P. in exergue. Edge milled.
Prooflike characteristics make this penultimate sovereign from Melbourne mint really pop. Normally prooflike coins were struck with proof dies which continued to be used for regular circulation production runs and they always command a significant premium.
