(x) Sikh Empire, Ranjit Singh (VS 1856-96; 1799-1839), Nanakshahi Rupee, Amritsar, VS 1869 (1812), pipal leaf on reverse, with double line above (Herrli 01.08.04; Gurprit Singh, 01.38.01, KM 20.1), very fine / about very fine, rare with double line in text (Tikkanen 460).
This date was the first in which a double line is observed on the reverse of
Amritsar Rupees. It is the result of the te of takht being extended across the whole flan. This is very scarce in Rupees of VS1869, although common in those of VS1870, and often seen in those dated VS1871.
Estimate: £200 - £250
