Pescennius Niger. Æ 28 mm (14.46 g), AD 193-194. Caesarea-Germanica in Bithynia. AYT K Γ ΠECK NI[Γ]POC IVCTOC CEB, laureate head of Pescennius Niger right. Reverse: KAICA[P]EIAC ΓEPMANIKHC, Zeus standing facing, head turned to left, holding scepter and fold of drapery. RG - (but cf. 5-6 for other rev. types struck from the same obv. die); cf. SNG von Aulock 478 (same obv. die, different rev.). apparently unpublished reverse type which pays tributes for the various gods of the Greek pantheon. Extremely Rare. Dark green patina with touches of reddish-brown. Choice Very Fine. Estimated Value $7,500 - UP
