According to Kent, this type records Theodosius seventh consulship, whereas Hann and Depeyrot prefer an attribution to his fourteen consulship in 433. The beardless portrait of this coin pre-dates the other similar and very rare consular types of this emperor are assigned to his 7th and 17th consulships.
