Theodosius II, 402-450 AD. Gold Solidus (4.5g). Mint of Constantinople, AD 430-40. Helmeted and cuir. bust three-quarter facing to r., holding spear and shield. Reverse: VOT XXX MVLT XXXX, officina B. Constantinopolis enthroned l., holding globus cruciger and sceptre, l. foot on prow, shield at side, with star in r. field; CONOB in ex. S-21158; RIC X, 257-9; DOC 379. Boldly struck and intensely lustrous with a touch of rose gold tone within the devices. A marvelous gem specimen. NGC graded Mint State, Strike: 5/5, Surface: 4/5. clipped We find no evidence of clipping. Estimated Value $1,500 - UP
