Of Roman legionary designations, Legion X is perhaps the most famous. It was the favourite of Julius Caesar in the conquest of Gaul, serving at times as his personal bodyguard and played a key role in the Civil Wars against Pompey, including the decisive battle of Munda in 45 BC.
