SICILY, Thermai Himeraiai. Punic Issues. Circa 350-330 BC. AR Tetradrachm (26mm, 17.27 g, 7h). Charioteer, wearing Phrygian helmet, holding kentron in extended right hand and reins in left, driving fast quadriga left; above, Nike flying right, crowning charioteer with wreath held in her extended hands; altar in exergue / Bare head of female left, wearing triple-pendant earring and pearl necklace; three dolphins swimming around, ram of ship to right. Jenkins, Punic 1 (D1/R1 – this coin illustrated (2nd coin)); Campana 11; CNP 319b; HGC 2, 1610; SNG Lloyd 1040 (same dies); BMC 1 (same dies); Hunt II 296 (this coin); McClean 2310 (same dies). Wonderful old cabinet tone, traces of find patina, minor flan flaw on obverse, two shallow test cuts on edge. Good VF. Very rare.
