ISLANDS off THRACE, Thasos. Circa 90-75 BC. AR Tetradrachm (33.5mm, 16.55 g, 11h). "Imitative" series. Head of young Dionysos right, hair in band and wreath of ivy with berries at the tip / Herakles standing left, right hand on club set on ground, lion skin draped over left arm; HPAKΛEOVΣ to right, ΣΩTHPOΣ to left, ΘAΣIΩN in exergue; MH monogram to inner left. Prokopov, Silberprägung, Group XII, – (unlisted dies, but nearly identical to V AB9/R 514); Le Rider, Thasiennes 52; HGC 6, 359. Even deep gray tone, some light scratches. Good VF. Well centered.
