CALABRIA, Tarentum. Circa 272-240 BC. AR Nomos (19mm, 6.56 g, 7h). Reduced standard. Youth, nude, riding left, crowning horse with wreath held in his extended right hand, and holding rein in left; ΣY to right, ΛYKI/NOΣ below / Phalanthos, chlamys draped over extended right arm, preparing to throw trident he holds aloft in right hand, riding dolphin left; to right, owl standing left, head facing; TA-PA[Σ] below. Vlasto 836-41; HN Italy 1025; SNG ANS 1165–70; SNG BN 1999–2005; Dewing 271–4. Beautiful iridescent tone, faint cleaning scratches under tone. Near EF.
