SICILY, Syracuse. Hieron I. 478-466 BC. AR Tetradrachm (24.5mm, 17.32 g, 12h). Struck circa 475-470 BC. Charioteer, holding kentron in right hand and reins in both, driving slow quadriga right; above, Nike flying right, crowning horses with wreath held in both hands / Head of Arethousa right, wearing pearl tainia and necklace; Σ-VRA-KOΣI-OИ (R inverted) and four dolphins around. Boehringer Series XIIa, 343 (V168/R42); HGC 2, 1307; SNG ANS 109 (same obv. die); McClean 2613 (same dies). Underlying luster, indications of undertype. Good VF.
