Kings of Thrace, Lysimachos AR Tetradrachm. Lampsakos(?), circa 297-281 BC. Diademed head of the deified Alexander to right, with horn of Ammon / Athena Nikephoros seated to left, left arm resting on shield, transverse spear in background; ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ to right, ΛΥΣΙΜΑXΟΥ crowned by Nike to left, no visible controls. Thompson -. 15.44g, 29mm, 12h.
Very Fine. The possible attribution to Lampsakos is based on the similarity of this obverse die to examples given to this mint, cf. Roma E-89, lot 292 (Thompson 49).
