Martinique 1901 (ND 1903-34) P-6A PMG About UNC 55 5 Francs
Alizard - Bonneville signature combination. Ex: Michel Becuwe collection. The first (and extremely rare) signature variety for the red type, issued in 1903, in magnificent grade for an early 20th century banknote. When this sold in 2007 it was estimated that less than five pieces were known to exist (our limited research has located four examples, so that estimate was perhaps a bit low). One marginally better than this one hammered in a French auction in July of this year at 3200 Euros. An extremely rare note at this grade level and important opportunity for the French colonial specialist.
