President Paul Kruger's stately portrait is seen on the front of this rare 19th century issue. The South African Republic was absorbed into the British Empire after the second Boer War that ended in 1902, which rendered these notes obsolete. This example is severed and reattached, which was done by the printer to secure safe passage or to cancel the note after its tenure.
