BYZANTINE SEALS. Basil, Rhaiktor (=Rector), circa 9th-10th century. Seal or Bulla (Lead, 26 mm, 7.17 g, 12 h). Star of eight rays, with an indistinct letter(s) at the end of each, forming the invocation 'Κύριε βοήθει'; around, two borders of dots. Rev. ΒΑCI/ΛΕΙΩ ΡΑΙ/ΚΤΩΡΗ/ ΑΜΗΝ in four lines. From the same boulloterion (but by far superior) as the one that struck BZS.1947.2.842. A scarce seal, reading from the obverse to the reverse, Lord help Basil, Rhaiktor, amen. Very slightly off-centre, otherwise, good very fine.
