ARABIA, Northwestern. Lihyan, 2nd–1st centuries BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26 mm, 17.04 g, 10 h), Imitating Athens. Helmeted head of Athena to right, with frontal eye; square countermark with monogram on cheek. Rev. AΘE Owl standing to left, head facing; olive sprig and crescent to right; all within incuse square. No parallels known. An extremely interesting and unusual type. Considerable traces of corrosion, especially on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.
