Histamenon nomisma (Gold, 22 mm, 4.38 g, 6 h), Constantinople, 977-989. +IhS XPS REX RGENANTIЧM Facing bust of Christ Pantocrator, wearing tunic, himation and a cross nimbus with Θ in each arm, raising right hand in benediction and holding Gospel book in his left. Rev. bASILI C COҺSTAҺTI b R Crowned facing busts of Basil, on the left, with short beard and wearing a loros, and Constantine, on the right, beardless and wearing a chlamys; holding between them in their right hands, a long patriarchal cross. DOC 2j. SB 1796. Very unusual decoration on the arms of the nimbus. Light scratches and graffito in a form of a christogram, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
