William III gold 5 Guineas 1700 AU (Polished), KM505.1, S-3454, Schneider-Unl. 37mm. 41.50gm. DVO DECIMO edge. At the cusp of uncirculated condition, with only a small degree of high point wear to William's bust and the surrounding legends, while the reverse details appear to be without any clearly discernible evidence of circulation wear at all. Though polished and cleaned, with a corresponding loss of luster and light hairlines throughout the fields, sharp traces of shimmering mint originality grace the reverse. A scarce opportunity to acquire a relatively more affordable example of this coveted type, and additionally desirable for its previous front cover placement on Bonhams' March 1999 numismatic auction catalog.
