Great Britain
George III Proof 1/2 Crown 1816 PR63 NGC, KM667, S-3788, ESC-2088 (R2; prev. ESC-615). Plain edge. A fully entrancing presentation of this first-year "Large Head" Proof 1/2 Crown, embellished with fully medallic features accentuated by contrasting shades of silvery tone. While not the technical finest that has yet been certified, it is hardly an exaggeration to say that this coin very nearly presses the upper bounds of its assigned designation; its unbroken Proof features embellishing it with a level of eye appeal sometimes lacking from numerically more highly graded specimens. Sold with the original lot tag from the Pittman Collection.
Ex. John J. Pittman Collection (David Akers August 1999, Lot 3821); Purchased from Spink in December 1952
