British India. Victoria gold Mohur 1841-(c) MS61 NGC, Calcutta mint, KM462.1, S&W-3.7. Type A obverse, Type I reverse. W.W. incuse on truncation, plain 4 (without serif). Bestowed with a hint of honeyed patina over warm surfaces radiating a satiny, sunny gold. This design continues to prove one of the most enduring and popular within the British Indian series, and here, a firm placement of the dies has allowed for a full expression of the intended details, yielding an alluring survivor of the type, limited in certification only by wispy friction and perhaps a couple of excess stray marks.
