Estados Unidos copper-nickel Specimen Pattern Peso 1979-(Mo) SP65 PCGS, Mexico City mint, KM-Unl., PL-146D var. (RRR; different breast feathers). Eagle with relief feathers, without mintmark. By Ricardo Luna Vasco. Of far greater rarity than the brass Patterns of the same series, with reportedly fewer than 10 known examples; whereas Luna Herrera records 2 types each of the design in brass and copper, he records only 1 in nickel. Of even greater interest is the fact that the example plated in his book shows unusual horizontal, rather than vertical, breast feathers on the eagle. Notably one of only 3 yet seen by PCGS.
