Philip V gold 8 Escudos 1738 S-PJ XF45 NGC, Seville mint, KM346.2, Cal-2314, Onza-537 (Very Rare). A superb rendition of this classically challenging final year of issue for Philip V, located in mid-grade and boasting a gentle, honest wear and a strike that lends a clear and complete outline to the raised devices. A sublime amber and magenta halo grips the periphery, contributing heavily to the eye appeal of the rarity at hand, one we have only had the pleasure of offering an example of twice before in recent decades; notably missing from both the Eliasberg Collection and B. Max Mehl's 1943 sale of the Thomas W. Voetter Collection.
