FRANKFURT AM MAIN: Free City, AR 2 thaler (3½ gulden), 1841, KM-326, J-15, city view of sunrise over the river Main, with the Alte Brücke and the city's historic waterfront in the background, slate-gray toning with notes of gold and indigo, a gorgeous example of this very popular type, PCGS graded AU58. The medieval city-center of Frankfurt was almost entirely destroyed during WWII, with only a few landmark buildings reconstructed in a simplified manner after the war.
