EGYPT: large copper printing plate, 115x275mm, dated 186x for a Bill of Exchange (First) for Cassavetti & Co., Alexandria, EF, RR. Cassavetti Brothers & Co. (otherwise Cassavetti, Cavafy & Co.) had establishments at Cairo, Alexandria, London, Liverpool and Manchester, buying considerable quantities of goods made in Manchester for sale in Ottoman Egypt. The resident partners there, the Cavafy Brothers, toured Egypt with their camel caravans trading goods for bullion.
