TIMURID: Sultan Husayn, 1469-1506, LOT of 59 silver tankas, nearly all of type A-2438 (eye-shape cartouche, with mint name), plus a couple of A-2437 (same shape, no mint name); mostly the common mint Herat, but also nice examples of Astarabad, Herat, Marw, Mashhad, Sabzawar, Tun, and Urdu; many with additional earlier and occasionally later countermarks; about half on identifiable host coins, some rare, an excellent research series for this fascinating and complex coinage; mostly VF or better countermarks; retail value $1000, lot of 59 pieces.
