(sun) D (anchor) FRANCISCVS: D: G: FRANCORVM: REX:, crowned royal shield, L below / + D: (anchor) XPS: VINCIT: XPS: REGNAT: XPS: IMPE:, cross fleurdelisée with quadrilobe at center, F in second and third quarters, lis in first and fourth. A very short-lived type, known to have only have been minted at Bayonne and Rouen. Exceeded by a single MS63 in the NGC census, this coin shows abundant luster and minimal friction, with the usual unevenness of strike resulting in some patches of flatness in the legends.
