George III (1760-1820), Pattern Half Guinea, 1782, unsigned but attributed to Lewis Pingo for Earl Stanhope, GEORGIVS III DEI GRATIA, laureate bust right with long wiry hair across neck and below truncation, rev. M.B.F. ET. H. REX. F.D.B. ET. L.D.S.R.I.A.T. ET. E. 1782, crowned and garnished shield, ornate scalloped rims and pellets in arcs, plain edge, 3.51g, 7h (Eimer, Pingo 78a), some light rubbing to cheek and reverse centre softly struck, otherwise extremely fine and rare.
