Burma, a pair of obverse and reverse dies for the 1 rupee of CS1214 (1852), The pieces that follow here show:

1) an obverse in excellent condition: peacock, steel die. A rare and most desirable numismatic souvenir of Burma.
2) a reverse die in considerably weathered condition: the surface oxidised. The Heaton Mint won a contract to supply a complete mint for Burma. This turnkey project included dies for all denominations. Some years later, with Britain at war with Burma, the Mint was captured and a number of tools taken as souvenirs. These were principally dies, normally of 1 Rupee, and very few of the lower denominations (1 pair of dies).

Estimate: $42,000.00 - $75,000.00
