COLOMBIA. Banco De Marquez. 1 to 100 Pesos, 188x. P-S581p to S586p. Front and Back Proofs. With NBNC Letter. Extremely Fine.
A large grouping of proofs for the Banco de Marquez. Included in this lot are the following:

A portrait vignette of the man found on the notes.

Front and back proofs for P-S581p 1 Pesos. The front proof is punch cancelled. Both front and back proofs have annotations on the front and back.

P-S582p 5 Pesos. Two front proofs are included, one is green and the other is a dark brown. The green colored proof is mounted to cardstock while the other is not. The brown front proof has a tear in the upper left margin and a hole in the portrait, with an annotation on the reverse. The mounted front proof has printer's annotations on the front and back, along with a hole in the left border design. The back proof has annotations on the front and back.

P-S583p 10 Pesos which is found in the form of two uncut front proofs, and a single back proof. The uncut duo have multiple holes in the margins, along with punch cancellations on each note and annotations on the front and back. The back proof has annotations on the front and back.

P-S585p front and back proofs for this 50 Pesos design. Six punch cancels are noticed on the front proof, along with printer's annotations on the front and back. The back proof displays two holes in the cardstock at upper left, and annotations on the front and back.

P-S586p front and back proofs for this 100 Pesos design. Six punch cancels are found on the front proof, along with annotations on the front and back. The back proof displays two holes in the upper left cardstock, one of which goes into the border design. Annotations are seen on the front and back.

To add to the appeal, paper from the National Bank Note Company is included which concerns the 1, 5, 10, 50 & 100 denominations from this bank. Tape repairs, a nail repair, tears and other damage are found on the paperwork.

It is worth noting that the original NBNC paper and the Standard Catalog of World Paper Money, Specialized Issues by George S. Cuhaj do not list the 20 Pesos, and the book lists a gap in Pick numbers between the 10 & 50 Pesos denominations (jumping from P-S583 to P-S585).

Estimate: $800 - $1000
